FORT MYERS, Fla. -Florida State University fans watched Thursday as their Seminoles lost to the Oregon Ducks in the first ever College Football Playoffs game.

Fans gathered at Sidelines Sports Bar hopeful their undefeated team would pull out another win.
“It’s great to be a part of college football history. We’re undefeated, we’re going into this College Football Playoff undefeated, and we’re looking to remain undefeated. Two national championships in a row, that’s what we’re going for,” said fan Mark Lehman.

Even as the Ducks started to heat up in the third quarter, fans remained hopeful.

“We’re losing, but famous Jameis will come back from behind, and they don’t even know what hit them,” said Colin Most.

Ultimately, Oregon won 59-20 .

Meanwhile, WINK News asked fans what they thought about the new playoff system. A committee consisting of 13 people picked the top four teams in the country to play and determine, who would be in the championship game.

“I think it’s fair with the way that they did it. with the way that the community voted on it and everything,” said Joseph Hagar. “To give all four teams a fighting chance to play for a national championship.”
