GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) – New Florida coach Jim McElwain has added a number of assistants.

Having already hired Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator and Geoff Collins as defensive coordinator, McElwain filled several more staff positions Monday.

The biggest name in the group was former Miami coach Randy Shannon, who was hired as associate head coach, co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

McElwain also hired Terrell Williams as defensive line coach and Kirk Callahan as defensive backs coach.

On offense, McElwain retained offensive line coach Mike Summers, hired Greg Nord as tight ends and special teams coach, and hired Tim Skipper as running backs coach.

Mike Kent will serve as director of strength and conditioning.

McElwain says “this is the first step in putting together an infrastructure that will put the Gators back where we belong.”
