Man and two dogs killed in North Fort Myers fire

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – One man was killed in a house fire Friday evening.

According to the North Fort Myers Fire District, the man and his two dogs were killed in the fire. Fire fighters received the call around 6:15 p.m. to the 1200 block of Laurel Drive.

Neighbors told a WINK News crew on the scene that the man lived alone and was very friendly.

“The flames were high probably 10 to 15 feet over the roof,” said neighbor Sir Anthony. “When we come out of the house, it was on fire. Flames were going everywhere, smoke everywhere.”

Crews have not determined a cause. The State Fire Marshall is taking over the investigation.

At the time this story was published, investigators had not released the name of the man killed.
