Go behind the scenes of Annie

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The national Broadway tour of Annie has arrived in Southwest Florida, for eight shows at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.

The tour features a large cast and crew with a unique set that the actors actually had a hand in adding personal touches to. Stage Manager, Donovan Dolan, took WINK news for a behind the scenes tour.

“We had each of the girls draw what they think their idea of Miss Hannigan is and so each one has their own that they post inside their bunk beds,” said Dolan. Which adds a unique touch of detail and charm to the set.

The cast and crew are working their way across America, waking up in a new city every week. Even for the young cast members they’re thrilled to be a part of the show, like Lilly Mae Stewart, who plays orphan Molly.

“I love having six new best friends and I really love the traveling and getting to see all the different sights and getting to all the different places,” said Stewart.

The role of Annie, is played by 9-year-old Issie Swickle, who was ecstatic when she found out she’d landed the main role and carries that energy with her throughout her performance.

Annie runs through Sunday, February 15th, in Fort Myers. To buy tickets, click here.
