Naples employee accused of conning thousands from domestic violence victims

NAPLES, Fla. – A Naples woman is accused of stealing $50,000 from domestic violence victims; people she was suppose to be helping.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says 52-year-old Rossana Lucero conned at least 30 victims. Investigators say Lucero was an employee of The Shelter for Abused Woman and Children.

They tell WINK News she helped victims with their immigration documents. Investigators say she lied telling victims they owed money to Homeland Security but in reality was depositing the funds into her personal bank account.

The shelter says Lucero had a background check before employment and has since been fired.

Officials also released this statement:

“The shelter will ensure that all the parties impacted by this individual will be made whole.”

Wink News asked the shelter if it had any other problems with Lucero, if her background check showed any red flags and how the victims will get their money back. The shelter refused to answer those questions.
