MGN Online MIAMI (AP) – The Miami-Dade County Commission has agreed to offer soccer star David Beckham a site near Marlins Park for a Major League Soccer stadium. Commissioners agreed Tuesday on a resolution calling for Mayor Carlos Gimenez or his designee to negotiate or finalize a deal with Beckham. It wasn’t immediately clear how much contact the county has had with Beckham and his partners. Beckham’s efforts to get Miami waterfront property for the stadium failed last summer. The latest offer is a parcel on the west side of Marlins Park that has been generally earmarked for soccer fields. Beckham’s group had previously said they weren’t interested if they couldn’t have a stadium in downtown Miami.
