Collier County McDonald’s goes up in smoke forcing people to evacuate

Published: Updated:

GOLDEN GATE, Fla. – Employees and customers had to evacuate a McDonald’s after flames tore through the kitchen.

Fire trucks swarmed the McDonald’s around 6:45 p.m. Smoke could be seen coming out of a side door and from the roof.

The employees say something in the kitchen caught fire; it started small but grew out-of-control. They stopped taking orders and managers yelled for everyone to evacuate.

“I was taking an order and then I heard boom,” said employee Kanesha Elue. “Then like, the fire was under the fries and they were in oil. It started leaking and smoking.”

Everyone made it out okay and fire fighters put out the flames in minutes.
