Lee County mourns the loss of Judge Robert Shafer

LEE COUNTY, Fla – Members of the legal community are mourning the loss of Judge Robert Shafer.  Judge Shafer died on Wednesday after a short illness.

Judge Shafer served as a Senior Law Partner with Henderson, Franklin, Starnes and Holt in Fort Myers, and as a Chief Circuit Judge in the 20th Judicial District.

Community service was also an integral part of Judge Shafer’s life.  He served the President of the S. W. Florida Historical Society, the American Red Cross, the Lee County Bar Association, and was on the Board of Directors of the Community Concert.

A decorated war veteran, he received the Bronze Star for Valor for his service in the Korean War.

Funeral Services will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 27 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church for education, in honor of Robert T. Shafer, Jr. Donations may be sent to the church at 2439 McGregor Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33901.
