State Fire Marshal investigating Cape Coral house fire

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused an early Wednesday morning house fire.

It happened on the 5200 block of SW 20th Place. The Cape Coral Fire Department tells WINK News the fire started around 4:40 a.m. in the back bedroom. Flames were seen shooting through the roof when fire crews arrived on scene.

Fire crews say three adults and three dogs were inside the house at the time of the fire. The three adults and two of the dogs made it out safe. One dog died in the fire.

According to fire battalion chief, the house is likely a total loss.
