Local players selected in the MLB Draft

On Tuesday, Fort Myers High School graduate Brendon Sanger was drafted in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Angels. Sanger will forego his senior season at Florida Atlantic to start his pro career.

On Wednesday, Gulf Coast High School pitcher Michael Zimmerman was the second pick in the 11th round by the Colorado Rockies. Zimmerman tells WINK Sports he has already agreed to terms on a contract with the Rockies and will sign rather then play college baseball at the University of Florida.

Naples High School outfielder Garrett Zech was drafted in the 15th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers but he won’t sign and will instead go play at USF.
