LCSO: Child injured after being pushed through window

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A mother is under arrest after her toddler was cut so badly, he had to get staples in his head.

Deputies say the child was hurt after his mother got locked out of their San Carlos Park home.

Authorities say she broke a window, and then passed the boy through the jagged glass while he was only wearing a diaper.

Jessica Fokas, 32, is facing charges for child neglect and resisting an officer.

Deputies say they were first called to the intersection of San Carlos Boulevard and Cedar Drive for a disturbance, but they soon found much more.

Everything was captured on the home’s video surveillance camera.

Deputies say they watched as an intoxicated Fokas broke the window then held her boy horizontally, sending him into the home as he was cut by remaining shards of glass along the way.

The toddler was taken to the hospital and needed for staples for a gash in his head.

His father was also arrested.

According to authorities, 30-year-old Andrew Fokas was an out-of-state fugitive, wanted in Virginia for multiple narcotics warrants.

The toddler is now in the custody of his grandmother.

The Department of Children and Families confirms it’s now investigating, but says it has never investigated the family in the past.
