2 hospitalized after plane crashes en route to Fort Myers

LAKE WALES, Fla. – A plane that was scheduled to land at Page Field Airport in Fort Myers crashed before finishing the trip.

Two people, an instructor and student have serious injuries.

The flight from Orlando Sanford International Airport to Page Field was only supposed to take 45 minutes.

Officials say some time into the flight, the Cirrus SR20 started experiencing trouble.

Video shows the plane’s parachute deployed, helping the plane land near the Lake Wales Municipal Airport in a marshy area.

The two men on board were airlifted to a nearby hospital.
