Actor Burt Young in SWFL, filming underway and looking for extras

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- Movie actor Burt Young was in Bonita Springs shooting his first scene for the comedy “Smothered by Mothers.”

Only WINK News was on the beach and inside a mansion filled with movie cameras in Bonita Springs. Our cameras caught Young, best known for his role as “Pauly” in the “Rocky” movies, acting during his first shoot of the day.

Wednesday marked the third day of filming. The cast and crew have 11 more days in a row to film.

Cameras will be all around Naples capturing the movie comedy.

The plot is based on NFL kicker Bobby Davis. In the film, he loses a lot of money all belonging to the women in his life. He loses almost everything but because of Florida’s homestead law he keeps his home.

“So he’s living in this mansion with his new wife, two ex-girlfriends, who are both pregnant, and his mother. He is just smothered by mothers,” said Chuck Ardezzone of the film.

Weicher of Weichert Media, LLC wrote the movie and Jonathan Yaskoff is producing it.

ITZ Media Group is listed as an associate producer and owner Chuck Ardezzone is one of the main characters.

“I get to be back in front of the camera which is my passion,” said Ardezzone who is playing the friend of the main character.

His face won’t be the only one you recognize. Young is starring in it along with actress Heather Materazzo best known for her role in “The Princess Diaries.”

“We are going to be all over Naples for the next three weeks,” said Ardezzone.

The movie is helping boost the local economy as they bring in crews from LA. The film has also created more than 30 local jobs.

“We are hiring local actors, local crews and local caterers,” said Ardezzone. “We are excited about it, we want Naples to be a film town.”
