JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – Investigators say a second body has been recovered during the search for a missing Jacksonville boy. Jacksonville Sheriff’s divers checking a pond for 21-month-old Lonzie Barton on Tuesday found a submerged late 1980s model Mazda RX-7 with a man’s remains inside. Sgt. Craig Waldrup says the license plate has been recovered and authorities are searching files to determine who was inside. The Florida Times-Union reports the vehicle was covered in algae and mud and officials say it had likely been in the pond near Interstate 95 for years. On Monday, officials found human remains in a wooded area while searching for the boy. The child was reported missing last Thursday night while in the care of his mother’s boyfriend. Authorities charged him with two counts of child neglect.
