Sit down and get ready to eat.

The Mucky Duck on Captiva is back and open for business after its closure following Hurricane Ian in September.

The restaurant reopened quietly on Wednesday.

“PLEASE BEAR WITH US as not everything is fully functional yet, or going exactly as planned, but with time these things will smooth out,” the beloved restaurant posted on Facebook.  “Welcome back everyone, and please keep us in your prayers that we can keep moving forward from here!!!”

Dan, the bartender, said they got through half the cleaning on Wednesday.

“They called me literally the day before and said, ‘come in, we’re opening tomorrow,” Dan told WINK News.

The restaurant had very little damage, which is a miracle considering what Ian did to most of Captiva.

The problem getting it back open was the state of the rest of the island, including all the debris.

Four months later, Dan is back behind the bar where he likes to be. He was previously “Mr. Mom,” he said.

“I’ve been staying home with the kids,” Dan said. “It’s been great. I miss the hell out of it now.”

And despite no advance notice, customers are flooding in.
