LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Meet Jacob! He’s Lee County’s New Year’s baby. Jacob was born at 1:29 this morning at Healthpark Hospital.

“I think it was great he was born on the New Year, now he will have a party every year on his birthday,” said Jennifer Chatskiy.

It’s a boy! Baby Jacob was Southwest Florida’s first bundle of joy born in 2015.

“I’m blessed to just have him finally come into the world,” said Chatskiy.

“It’s fate, I’m happy, he’s the first one,” said Dimitri Chatskiy.

Weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces and 21 inches long, Jacob is the first baby for proud parents Jennifer and Dimitry Chaskiy.

“I don’t think it would have felt different it if was born any other day.”

Jennifer says she was destined to have a New Year baby, she went into labor two days before the New Year.

“I’ll always remember this new year.”

Jacob’s parent’s said before he was born, they were convinced he would be bald.

“I was bald and dad was bald when we were born, so I never expected him to have a full head of hair.”

They describe the moment they laid eyes on their little guy.

“To be honest, new born children are not very pretty, they are kind of blue-ish, a lot of hair, but the first time I saw him, he was awesome!

Jacob isn’t even aware that just 14 hours after he was born, he would make his first appearance on TV. The little guy slept throughout our entire visit.

“This is a completely new experience, I’m still adjusting to this roll of being a dad.”
