LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying a masked gunman who robbed a Family Dollar store.

Detectives say around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man dressed in all black and donning a black ski mask, walked into the store located at 1111 Homestead Road.

Authorities say the suspect pulled out a black, full sized semi-automatic pistol and ordered the employee to put all the cash from the register into his bag.

After receiving the money, the suspect took off on foot westbound, with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as 6’2″ with a thin build.

People who live and work in this part of Lehigh say last night’s stick-up, has become a common occurrence. They say the neighborhood has changed.

Marylou Land has worked at Lee County’s oldest Chinese restaurant for almost three decades.

The China Star restaurant has been at the same spot for forty years, directly next door to the Family Dollar.

Land says she isn’t surprised by what happened on the other side of the wall last night. She says unfortunately, times in Lehigh Acres have changed.

“Last night when I went home, my heart was in my feet, because I have been a resident of Lehigh Acres for 35 years, and it just tears my heart out to see what’s happening here.”

Anyone with information on the identity of this suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
