LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A local NFL star wants to clear his name.

Cape Coral native Nate Allen says Fort Myers Police detained him for hours after a 16-year-old accused him of exposing himself to her.

“It was like a nightmare yesterday.”

Allen says those allegations are disgusting and absolutely not true.

“I have nothing to hide from anybody.”

He says he was coming home from dinner at the Fort Myers Red Lobster Monday evening , when police stopped him as he was driving home on US 41.

Allen says he had no idea what was happening.

He says police told him that a 16-year-old had accused him of exposing himself in his car, while stopped at a red light at US 41 and Colonial.

“Next thing I know, I’m out of the car and being detained, and there’s an investigation going on.”

Allen spent four hours talking with police. He says to this very minute, he still has no idea why he was accused of what he called, a disgusting crime.

“That’s what bothers me the most, I’m not worried about my NFL career, forget all that, this is bigger than that. Football can end tomorrow and it’s okay,” said Allen. “Just to have people question, ‘did he do it’ or ‘didn’t he do it,’ is disgusting to me.”

Allen says he asked the Fort Myers Police Department to keep investigating, to clear his name for good.

The State Attorney’s Office tells WINK News they are completing an agency review of the case.

No charges have been filed against Allen.

Allen says he has been in contact with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and head coach Chip Kelly. He says they have given him their full support.
