Parking problems at Germain Arena during big concerts and events gets attention

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Sold out shows at Germain Arena have led to parking nightmares and WINK News viewers are not happy.

A sold out show featuring country star Luke Bryan is taking place Wednesday night. WINK News explains how to get around the parking headache.

“I have to check into will call for my meet and greet pass because I am going to meet him tonight,” said Debbie Adams.

Adams can be considered a diehard Luke Bryan fan and she will not let anything get in her way of seeing the country star and giving him a present.

“I get here early in case there is no spots and I can park close and I can save on steps.”

The arena can hold about 8,500 people, but, the parking lot only has room for 2,000 cars and that can cause a problem.

“We want to get out to the people that they need to come out early for the concert,” said Senior Vice President for Germain Arena Scott Bryant.

Arena staff tell WINK News, a full parking lot has caused problems in the past and concertgoers agree.

“The back up has been a lot of trouble with the lines over an hour. People don’t get into the shows on time,” said David Bobbie.

If you find yourself caught in the parking mess, the arena has a solution. When parking fills up, Miromar Outlets opens up their parking lot for concertgoers.

“If you want to see Luke Bryan get your butts down here early, get a good spot and tailgate spot and remember…’it’s a parking lot party!'”

WINK News found out there are no long term plans in the works to help with the parking. The arena management says they have a good working relationship with the outlets and plan to keep using their parking.
