FORT MYERS, Fla. – Community members got the opportunity to tour the newly renovated Hammond Stadium at the CenturyLink Sports Complex.

Officials gathered for the ribbon cutting at noon Sunday. Afterward the public got to tour the stadium, participate in youth baseball/softball clinics and meet some of the Minnesota Twins players.

The second phase of renovations at the Twins spring training ground included expanding the concourse, improving concessions and building a new retail store. They also upgraded seating, expanded the clubhouse and renovated the press box. Earlier this month, the new box office opened up.

The renovations were part of a $48.5 million project to improve the Twins’ spring training facility.

The first round of renovations were completed in the spring of 2014. The first phase included a new playing field, expanded seating and 360-degree boardwalk with berm seating in the left field.

Everyone was welcome to attend Sunday’s open house. It was free to the public, but people were asked to bring a non-perishable food to donate to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

$27.5 million of the renovations came from the Lee County Tourist Development Council funds, $15 million came from the state of Florida and $6 million came from the Twins.

Fans can access the box office by parking on the south side of the facility located at 14100 Six Mile Cypress Parkway in Fort Myers, or you can purchase tickets online by clicking here.
