COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A local technology firm will get more than $117,000 from the county to help expand and grow its business.

On Tuesday, the Collier County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a unique incentive plan for Position Logic, LLC. It’s a GPS tracking company that was started in 2007.

The $117,600 will be distributed to Position Logic, LLC over a four year period. The founder of the company, Felix Lluberes, tell WINK News they plan to use the money to help them relocate to another office because they have outgrown the one their in now. He said they also plan on hiring 40 more employees.

WINK News first told you about this proposed deal on Friday.

“It’s not all businesses, but targeted industries.” Commissioner Georgia Hiller wants the county to create a program that will help other local business in similar circumstances.

“We’re going to develop the same program, which will come forward at the next board meeting. I will go ahead and present that and hopefully we’ll be successful with it and help a lot of businesses out there be more successful then they already are in Collier County.”

Commissioner Hiller tells WINK News the county should reward them for their capital investment. “We have programs already in place in recruiting companies from beyond our borders and I think what we need to focus on is programs to retain local companies and help them create more jobs.”

The incentive money comes from taxpayer dollars. Commissioner Hiller tells WINK News the county is also looking at other sources of funding to help the program grow.
