FORT MYERS, Fla.- Charlie Crist may soon be back on the Florida ballot.
A Crist advisor says the former Florida governor is considering a run for the Senate in 2016.
Democrats are contacting the former governor, and talking with him about running for Senate. This information comes, on the record, from Kevin Cate, a Crist adviser.
Crist lost a run for Senate as an independent in 2010, and he lost for governor last year, as a Democrat.
He could face opposition from others in the party, but Crist is the only one with statewide name recognition, and national fund-raising capabilities.
There’s no timetable on when Crist might decide. If he won the nomination, he could face Jeff Atwater who is the favorite of many Republicans.
