SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. (AP) – The Florida Highway Patrol says a man was struck and killed by two cars as he tried to cross U.S. 41 in southwest Florida.

The man had crossed the road to go to a gas station Thursday night and was on his way back to the Tiki Bar in San Carlos Park when he stepped into the road.

Authorities say a mirror of one vehicle apparently clipped him, making him spin around. He was then struck by the second vehicle.

The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, died at the scene.

Drivers of both vehicles stopped. Troopers say no charges will be filed.

The man’s name has not been released.
