Charlotte County detectives seek Verizon burglar

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Detectives need the public’s help in identifying both a vehicle and a person of interest in the burglary of a Verizon store over the weekend.

When an employee of the Verizon Wireless store, located at 1750 Tamiami Trail, arrived at work Sunday morning, he found the doors had been forced open.

Detectives checked the business’s surveillance video and saw a silver Mercedes GL series SUV drive up to the store at about 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 and drop off a man wearing dark clothing at the front door.

The man pried the doors open and entered the business.  The man stayed inside the business a short period of time before he left out the back door.

The attached photos were taken from the surveillance video shot through the front doors of the business, making the Verizon logos on the doors appear reversed.  The vehicle itself did not have logo markings on it, nor did the man’s clothing.

Detectives ask that anyone with information about identity of the man or the vehicle please call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101 (ask for District Detectives), or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
