Thousands attend the Southwest Florida Reading Festival

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 16th annual Southwest Florida Reading Festival was held in downtown Fort Myers Saturday.

The event was held at Centennial Park from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Thirty authors were on hand to talk to fans about their books.

“Today I’ve had a lot of family members coming by and buying books for daughters and granddaughters and grandsons,” said author, Jennifer Lynn Barnes. “It’s just great to see that love of reading passed from generation to generation.”

The event is hosted by the Lee County Library System. The festival is free and is about celebrating the importance of reading.

Every child who attended the event received a free book.
