NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.- Three dogs are dead after a fire ignited a home on Ixora Drive.

A family of six is displaced after losing all of their personal belongings in the fire, as well as their pets.

Neighbors saw flames emerging from the house just before 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. Firefighters arrived quickly and put out the flames, while removing three dogs from the home. They tried to revive the animals but were unable to do so.

“We’ve been begging the landlord to fix this place,” said resident Amanda Monroe. “I’m just saw right now. I’m really sad right now, everything’s gone.”

Firefighters helped to bury the dogs at the rear of the property. The battalion chief tells WINK News investigators from North Fort Myers and the State Fire Marshal’s Office will look for a cause.
