LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Lee County deputies are investigating a home invasion in the Cape Royal- Royal Tee Golf Club off of Pine Island Road.

A neighbor also told WINK, a man came to his home covered in blood saying four men had just broken into his home on Royal Tee Circle armed with knives and guns and beat him.

The neighbor also says the victim told him his house was ransacked. The neighbor believes some of the suspects got away in a white SUV.

The sheriff’s office says the call came in just before 10 p.m. Deputies believe the home was targeted and the community is not in danger. The sheriff’s office says the four man attacked the homeowner when he answered the door. They say his face and hands were bloody and the men attacked his wife as well. She was able to get away and run to a neighbor’s house for help, according to deputies.

WINK News spoke to a woman who lives in a neighboring community and saw all the activity. Hillary Hatch says deputies were walking along the back fence with flashlights. She says it was a scary situation and it makes her worry about safety even in a gated community.
