NEW YORK (AP) – A U.S. citizen has been brought from Pakistan to New York City to face charges he supported a conspiracy to kill Americans.

Muhanad Mahmoud Al Farekh appeared Thursday in Brooklyn federal court wearing blue prison attire. He didn’t enter a plea and was held without bail. His lawyer did not comment. His next court date is May 2.

Authorities say Al Farekh conspired to support efforts to kill Americans and U.S. military members abroad.

An FBI official says Al Farekh and two other men planned to become martyrs when they left Canada in 2007.

Authorities say that, a year later, one of the men provided weapons to three men at an al-Qaida training camp in Pakistan. The trio has since been convicted in connection with a plan for a suicide attack on New York City’s subway system.
