CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A controversial party is creating even more buzz.

Reports of sex, underage drinking, and too much noise emerged from an after-hours party at Sun Splash Family Waterpark last weekend.

The DJ who hosted last weekend’s party says he has a signed contract that allows for six more parties just like it in the coming months. The next party is scheduled for April 25.

DJ Lil Trav tells WINK News he paid a deposit in advance to make sure those parties happen. But, the manager of Sun Splash disagreed.

“He has not paid any money to reserve these future dates. On December 24th, he paid the $500 to secure the date for last weekend and he has not given us the $500 to secure any other the dates in the future,” said manager Sandy Greiner.

The City of Cape Coral tells WINK News last weekend’s party proves there’s a need for youth activities in the area and they hope to continue the parties in a more-controlled manner.

Cape Coral City Manager John Szerlag released a statement Thursday saying:

“The event at Sun Splash demonstrated that there’s a need for youth activities in Cape Coral. Moving forward we think this can be accomplished in a more controlled manner through a special event permit.”

Terms of that special event would include input from the Cape Coral Police Department, as well as a number of officers on hand for risk management.

Parks and recreation would also be setting the size of the event. The venue would no longer be billed as a family venue but a venue for high school students and a separate event for middle schools students.
