DELAND, Fla. (AP) – A man who was revived by a sheriff’s deputy after overdosing on heroin ran from the hospital where he was taken for treatment.

But Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies captured him Sunday night and he was taken to jail.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1H2zwne ) reports Deputy Patrick O’Melia was on patrol when he was flagged down by 31-year-old Kelly Boan. She led him to her car, where her unresponsive 34-year-old brother Justin Braddock was in the front seat. O’Melia put Braddock on the ground and started CPR. Boan told him that they had just purchased heroin and her brother had injected a large amount into himself.

Once at the hospital, Braddock ran but tripped on bushes and was captured.

He faces multiple charges and it’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
