STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) – Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who recently declared his candidacy for president, is headlining the Connecticut Republican Party’s annual fundraising dinner.

State GOP chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. announced Monday that Rubio will keynote the 37th Annual Prescott Bush Awards Dinner. The event is June 4 in Stamford.

Labriola called Rubio “a dynamic leader with a record of accomplishment.” He said Rubio has been an “articulate advocate for free market, limited government policies” and is one of the Republican Party’s “leading contenders for the White House in 2016.”

Rubio, a former Florida House speaker, has served in the U.S. Senate since 2010.

Tickets for fundraiser start at $199.

The event is named for the late grandfather of another potential GOP 2016 presidential candidate, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who spoke there last year.
