FORT MYERS, Fla.- Governor Rick Scott stopped by Southwest Florida Monday morning to highlight job growth in our area.

Gov. Scott spoke to a crowd at NeoGenomics Laboratories around 9:30 a.m., announcing more than 100 new jobs the company has created.

The company’s CEO was also awarded with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award.

While the governor highlighted the job growth the state has seen over the past four years, the conversation really turned to health care reform. Scott is suing the federal government over Medicaid expansion.

“I will not stand in the way if the federal government wants to provide healthcare to Florida citizens. I still believe in that. What I’m not going to do is I’m not going to put Florida taxpayers on the hook for a program that doesn’t work,” said Scott.

The governor is now on his way back to Washington.
