LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shut down a popular swimming place on the Caloosahatchee River. Scientists found an algae bloom upstream of Franklin Lock and dam near Fort Myers. A test near the beach downstream tested negative for bacteria, but officials are shutting down the area as a precaution. That means no swimming or other water activities.
