FPL debuts new mobile command center

FORT MYERS, Fla. – June 1 marks the start of hurricane season in Florida and Florida Power Light is ready for storm season with a new tool to help them restore power faster, in the event of a hurricane or natural disaster.

The new FPL Mobile Command Center features a 500 mile range on clean biodiesel fuel, can house up to 12 employees with conference rooms and split work rooms and enables state of the art technology to communicate with crews in the filed and get a live look at the system power grid.

The command center also comes equipped with its own weather station to provide crews with real time wind speed & direction, temperature, rain sensor and barometer data. The command center can adapt to any situation or level of need and streamline the restoration process.

FPL is currently upgrading their fleet to include two mobile command centers and two rapid response vehicles for hurricane preparedness, severe weather, high profile events, or other occasions that may deem them necessary.
