A fire spokesperson told WINK news that Allied Recycling in Arcadia caught on fire around three Sunday afternoon. The manager of the plant told WINK news he missed the initial call from the sheriffs office but by the time he arrived he found the plant he manages burning, with huge clouds of black smoke from the stacks of recycled automobiles, billowing into the air. Fire crews from as far as Estero responded to help fight the blaze. We spoke with Chester Johnson who told WINK news he is the manager of the plant. Johnson said he feels the cause of the fire was suspicious. Fire officials on scene said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
