South Fort Myers High School has hired long-time assistant Anthony Dixon as the Wolfpack’s new head football coach, per a press release from the school.

“I have been offered the head football coaching position at South Fort Myers High School, which I’ve accepted with pride. I want to thank administration for giving me the opportunity to continue being a part of this great program,” Dixon said in the release.

Dixon served as the interim head coach after long-time head coach Grant Redhead resigned to take another head coaching job in Ohio.

“South Fort Myers has been my home away from home for the past ten years. I’ve been fortunate enough to have coached with Grant Redhead, as we have watched a lot of kids go through this program and who have grown up to be young men,” said Dixon.

South Fort Myers reached the third round of the state playoffs last season under Redhead.

“Grant did a great job at building this program and my plan is to keep the success going. I’m excited for the opportunity to maintain South’s program for our student-athletes,” said Dixon.
