Runners take on Eagle Lakes 5K

Published: Updated:

NAPLES, Fla. – Saturday morning hundreds of people put on their running shoes. Runners headed to one of the most scenic running routes in Southwest Florida. The Eagle Lakes 5K kicked off at 7 a.m.

More than 300 people participated, among runners was Olympian Samuel Vasquez. Vasquez set a record breaking time for the 6th Annual Eagle Lakes event.

The 5K was put on by Elite Events, a family owned Naples company. Elite events has 5K runs, triathlons, marathons, and even “Tough Mudder” type obstacle mud races.

Each year the races have been getting the attention of more people.

Elite Events supports many local charities and schools by helping put on races as fundraisers, donating extra race shirts to Naples Haitian Church to take to Haiti, and even letting the Naples SWAT Team use our mud race obstacles for certain training and events they host.
