DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Authorities in Volusia County have put additional security measures in place on school buses after a 27-year-old man boarded, made a bomb threat and harassed students.

The incident happened Sept. 18 when the man rode the bus with 52 students bound for Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports school officials say substitute drivers will no longer be allowed to operate bus drivers without a system installed that verifies whether a rider is a student.

When the man got off the bus, he tried to get a female student to go back to his house with him.  When she refused, he threatened to blow up the school.

Superintendent Tom Russell told the newspaper the man was stopped by a school resource officer and later arrested.
