Tigers remember former teammate.

CLEWISTON, Fla.- Clewiston High School football practice was a little quieter than usual on Monday.

Over the weekend, Tyrell Taylor was shot and killed during the ZombiCon shooting.

Taylor, 20, played football at Clewiston just last year.

His former coach and teammates said they were shocked and heartbroken.

“It’s crazy. You know you never know. Somebody’s here one time and they’re gone the next,” said Clewiston senior football player TJ Johnson.

“It was a gut-punch for us all,” said Clewiston Head Coach Pete Walker, Taylor’s former coach. “To have someone who was a part of our tiger family and football program… to lose him at such a young age, it’s just a sad, sad state of affairs.”

Coach Walker said the team is working on getting stickers with Taylor’s number on them to wear for Friday’s game against Fort Myers.

“He was a great person,” said Clewiston sophomore football player Klamenta Jones. “When everyone was down, he always picked us up. He was nice, caring, all of that.”
