TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Sheriff’s officials say they’re “extremely concerned” after 42 guns were stolen during a break-in at a Tampa area gun retailer and shooting range.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Maj. Chad Chronister says the burglary occurred early Thursday at Shooting Sports. He says the thieves were in and out of the store within 60 seconds.

The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/1GWLvQV ) reports the thieves may have previously been in the store and knew that guns were left in glass display cases overnight.

Chronister also said there was an issue with the store’s security alarm. There had been false alarms in the past so the security company called the store owner when alerted to the break-in. He watched live surveillance video of the store from home and called 911.

Serial numbers from the stolen guns were entered into a crime database.
