PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda police confirm the death of a 7-Eleven employee whose body was found after an early morning fire is now being investigated as a homicide.

Authorities first responded to the 7-Eleven on Bal Harbor Boulevard and Aqui Esta Drive around 3 a.m. Sunday when the fire broke out. Kyle Farishian, 18, who was working an overnight shift at the convenience store, was found dead inside.

Police have not confirmed if Farishian was killed before or after the fire. Authorities received two phone calls moments after the fire began, one from a witness driving by and another from the clerk on the next shift.

The 7-Eleven company sent a statement to WINK News saying:

“This is a horrible situation and our hearts are with the family at this difficult time. We are gathering information and working with local law enforcement.”

The company is partnering with Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers to offer a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the person responsible for Farishian’s death.

Officers say the public is not in danger and this was an isolated incident.
