The price of Girl Scout cookies are going up in certain parts of the United States.

A troop in Massachusetts is planning to raise the price of Thin Mints and Tagalongs to $5 a box. Two California Girl Scout councils are also planning to raise their prices per box as well.

Last year, the cookies were $4 a box.

The Girl Scout councils say the price hike is because of higher costs for ingredients, transportation and storage.

Patricia Parcellin, President of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts told CNN, the $5 price tag will boost profits for the Girl Scouts to $0.90 per box, up from a $0.62 when the boxes were $4.
