MADRID (AP) – What’s it like to compete at the World Salsa Masters 2015 dancing competition?

Well, you need tight, bright costumes, elegant sparkly shoes and a snap to your performance that will place you first of the ten dance pairs from around the world competing in Madrid.

Dancers came from the United States, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Czech Republic and Venezuela.

The winners, who claimed a first prize of 7,000 euros ($7,520), were Alba Ibanez of Spain and Luis Chavez of Chile. The same couple – who live in the eastern Spanish city of Valencia – also won a special audience prize of 2,500 euros ($2,685).

“I dreamt of this since I was 15 years old,” Chavez said.
