MIAMI (AP) – David Beckham has met with the Miami-Dade School superintendent to discuss a stadium deal with local governments.

The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/1MrvDbj ) reports Beckham and Superintendent Alberto Carvalho met Wednesday in Miami Beach.

Carvalho says the 45-minute meeting involved the two outing their visions for the stadium. He says the two spent a lot of time talking about kids. Beckham is trying to build a stadium that would bring Major League Soccer to Miami and, in exchange, provide space for school events and sports-related education for classes and students.

The plan is for Beckham’s investment group to pay for the $200 million stadium on privately-owned land and parcels owned by Miami. The stadium and site would be transferred to the school system in order to shield it from property taxes.
