MIAMI (AP) – A jury has begun deliberating the fate of a Florida man who says he fatally shot his wife in self-defense before posting a photo of her dead body on Facebook.

Jurors on Tuesday night got the case of 33-year-old Derek Medina after more than two weeks of testimony. Medina did not testify but said in a videotaped police statement that he shot 27-year-old Jennifer Alfonso after years of abuse and during an argument in which she assaulted him with a knife.

Medina faces life in prison if convicted of murder in the August 2013 killing.

Medina says he posted the Facebook photo to show family what he did and explain why. Prosecutors say Medina killed Alfonso because she threatened to leave him and that she never had a knife.
