Duffy’s in Cape Coral cited for grease in storm drain

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Duffy’s Sports Bar and Grill, a popular restaurant in Cape Coral, was cited for grease and food found in and around a storm drain on its property.

City code enforcement says Duffy’s is not taking responsibility for the mess. A man working nearby noticed a strong smell.

“I went over there and looked and inside the drain you could clearly see that there was food pieces on top of the drain. We looked inside and there was clumps of grease like really thick pieces of grease inside the drain,” said Chris Reeves.

Duffy’s was cited and forced to clean up the mess. Now code enforcement will work with the restaurant to make sure it has the proper disposal equipment in its kitchen.

The general manager of the restaurant says he doesn’t know how it got there.

“We immediately called all of the managers that closed the restaurant and they vehemently denied doing you know any of it,” said Andrew Knauff, general manager of Duffy’s.
