FORT MYERS, Fla.- A school bus driver was airlifted to the hospital following a serious crash involving two school buses Monday morning.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says a school bus with 16 San Carlos Park Elementary School students had stopped on Three Oaks Parkway to pick up more kids when another school bus rear-ended it.

The second driver, on board an A & S Transportation bus, a private bus company based out of Naples, was transported to the hospital.

Deputies say five kids on the first bus were treated for minor bumps and scrapes, but they all continued on their way to school. There were no students on board the A & S Transportation bus.

All lanes on Three Oaks Parkway are back open after being shut down for hours while emergency crews investigated.
