SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) – There are words of praise today from the Islamic State group’s official radio station for the mass shooting in California.

The station says the attack was carried out by two “supporters” of the extremist group but stopped short of claiming responsibility.

In Pakistan, a relative of female shooter Tashfeen Malik says the woman apparently became a more zealous follower of the Muslim faith about three years ago.

Hifza Batool tells The Associated Press that her step-niece used to wear Western clothes but began wearing the hijab head covering or the all-covering burqa donned by the most conservative Muslim women about three years ago.

Among the questions raised by the San Bernardino shootings is whether the government can adequately investigate people who come to the United States on a special visa for fiances of U.S. citizens.

One attorney says the K-1 visa actually already requires more vetting than others.

Meanwhile, authorities in San Bernardino say a suspicious package addressed to the house where they lived has been deemed safe.
