MGN TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – A federal judge in Florida has sentenced a Texas man to three years and one month in prison for conspiring to export weapons to the Middle East. U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven handed down the sentence on Wednesday in Tampa. Court records show 42-year-old Eyad Farah of Barrington, Texas, pleaded guilty on Sept. 22. The court also ordered him to forfeit seven firearms traceable to the offenses. Prosecutors say Farah was part of a network of people involved in smuggling firearms to the Middle East. The firearms were hidden in vehicles that had been purchased at used car auctions in Central Florida and then scheduled for export to Jordan. The case was investigated by multiple agencies, including Homeland Security and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
