Detectives identify remains found in Picayune Strand State Forest

NAPLES, Fla.- The remains of a woman discovered on Aug. 29 in the Picayune Strand State Forest have been identified, confirmed the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives were able to use fingerprints collected to identity the remains as Heather Lee Grimshaw, 45, of East Naples.

Grimshaw was reported missing on Nov. 18, after Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers received an anonymous tip.

Detectives believe Grimshaw’s remains had been in place for at least four days before hikers discovered them in the Picayune Strand State Forest in August.

A cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
